Hello, I'm Amy Gould, LPCC-S, founder of Deep Heart's Core, a practice built around the belief that labels are limiting and that true counseling helps people reach beyond their limits — achieving what they didn't think was possible and growing in deep, productive ways.

My background spans counseling for individuals and couples. In my work with couples, I especially enjoy helping partners rebuild trust, heal after an infidelity, and examine the internal motivations that drive how they relate to each other. In my work with individuals, I support them in self-actualizing — in the sense Maslow meant by it — and in growing beyond the usual constraints of rules, mental sets, and conditioning, breaking old patterns and creating new ones. Creativity is part of that same growth. I offer the Mindscape Creativity Development workshop for people who want to expand how they think, imagine, and make.

In my work I avoid diagnostic labels when possible, because they are one of the ways people come to limit how they see themselves. I would rather set a different direction and help you discover what you're capable of than tell you what category you fall into.

I've always been a friend to animals and appreciate the role they play in people's emotional lives. As part of my practice I provide assistance animal evaluations, including letters for Emotional Support Animals and Psychiatric Service Animals when clinically appropriate. Avoiding labels doesn't mean overlooking real needs: for people with disabilities who want private-pay support and the documentation that comes with it, that work is welcome here.
